First Dev Log
This is the first dev log.
As an overview of the game, it will consist of:
- Collection of Casual Minigames
- Earn points in each game
- Decide how many games you want to play
- Get the highest score
- Local Multiplayer
- Compete with friends for the highest collective score
The general idea of this game is to have something on your phone to pass the time when waiting in line for things. I use the example of waiting in line in theme parks, the DMV, or a doctor's office.
The multiplayer aspect is more usable when in group lines like theme parks or waiting for events to start.
The pictures in this post represent the 2 first minigames that I implemented which are Block Dodge and Asteroid Dodge.
They are very simple and similar in nature.
For Block Dodge, just tap the side of the screen that you want your character to move to actively dodge falling blocks for a given amount of time. Get hit 3 times and you lose. Your score is dependent on how long you survive.
Asteroid Dodge is very similar. However, instead of tapping the side of the screen, your character will quickly move to where you tap with no restrictions. Dodge asteroids that will come at you from all directions while your ships shields recharge. Be careful, because you lose if you get hit even once. Score is dependent on how long you survive.
I plan to implement many more minigames in the future and will get this game completed when it becomes fun enough for me and my friends.
Upcoming ideas:
- Time to Stop:
- A timer will start when you tap the screen and will slowly fade out.
- You must press the screen again when you believe that the timer hits 0
- Your score depends on how close you get to 0
- If you don't press the screen and the timer goes passed 0, you get no points
- Quick Maths
- Simple math questions with multiple choices
- Choose the correct answer as fast as possible
- Getting a single question wrong will result in ending the game
- Score based on how quickly you answer and how many you get correct
- Goal Keeper
- Block incoming balls or objects from entering your basket
- If 2 objects enter your basket, the game finishes
- Score based on how long you can go without getting something inside
- Hup Hup Jump
- Character will run on 2D left to right
- Player needs to tap the screen 3 times to make the character jump
- Each tap will engage a part of the jump and affect timings
- Objective is to jump over obstacles or pits
- If player doesn't jump in time, the game finishes
